The Journey I am inviting you to join me on is less traveled. While in contrast the journey the world is offering you is much different and much broader.
What sparked this post was the opening ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics hosted in Paris, France. I thought the purpose of the Opening Olympic Ceremony was to be an international family-friendly program to honor athletes from all nations. Athletes who have trained hard for years, qualified to compete in these games in hopes to win a medal for country.
But instead, of celebrating the athletes the countries represented, the opening Olympic Ceremony celebrated darkness by promoting a debased and perverted lifestyle. I asked myself, “What were they thinking?” encouraging sexual promiscuity as the norm, depicting the French Revolution using a life-liked severed head in the name of “Liberté“, and mocking the portrait by Leonardo da Vinci of “The Last Supper”, by portraying Jesus as a woman and His disciples as drag queens.
If you think this bothers me because I am narrow minded or a prude, you are wrong. It bothers me because I know it grieves the heart of My Heavenly Father. For God tells us in Psalm 119:138 “Thou has commanded Thy testimonies in righteousness and exceeding faithfulness.” God invites us with exceeding faithfulness to join Him on the journey less traveled. His journey is not an easy one, but it promises to give us great rewards.
For example, to paraphrase Psalm 19:7-11 it says, when we follow His law, which is perfect it restores our soul. Who doesn’t need their soul restored? When we remember His testimony it is sure which produces wisdom for the simple. Who doesn’t want sound and godly wisdom? When we meditate or ponder on His precepts they are right, rejoicing the heart. Who doesn’t want truth which ignites a joyful heart? When we obey His commandment it is pure, enlightening the eyes. Who doesn’t want unblemished boundaries that give us understanding and clear direction? These are rewards too costly to purchase with earthy treasures.
God wants us to join Him on an adventure you never imagined. In fact, in Psalm 19:11 He goes on to say, His commandments and judgments are more desirable than gold, yes than much fine gold (that also includes an Olympic gold medal) and sweeter also than honey and the the drippings of the honeycomb.
Join me on the adventure of the Journey less traveled. Joyfully, Beverly
